Some grocery stores offer incentives for bringing your own bags. Trader Joe’s will give you a raffle ticket towards free groceries every time you bring your own bags. Whole Foods will knock 25 cents off your grocery bill for each bag you bring, and Wild Oats will either give you five cents back per bag, or the equivalent in wooden nickles that you can then place in receptacles to donate that amount to the charity of your choice.

Yeah all shops do that over here now, it seems like. I had a funny conversation with this girl serving me in WHSmiths (bookshop).
Her: Would you like a bag?
Me: Na, you’re alright.
Her: GOOD FOR YOU! SAY NO TO BAGS, SAVE A TREE! *points to this badge she’s wearing*
Me: *you’re shouting at me* Heh, heh.
Her: People always think we’re wierd for telling them that. I just tell them, you can HAVE a bag, but you WOULD be killing a tree.
Me: I expect that would work…
